24 / 7 Prayer Weekend Opens Up Ministry Opportunities For The Marketplace!

by Chauncey Hutter, Jr - April 25th, 2009. Filed under: Marketplace.

Last week, about 35+ people from our local church came together for a non stop, day and night prayer weekend. This simple act of coming before the Lord in prayer, in one place, for one hour prayer blocks at a time, did amazing things in all of our hearts that only the Holy Spirit can do …

We held this 2 day event at The Business of Prayer office. The folks who participated — young and old … new to faith or more mature in their Christian walk … students, lawyers, teachers, business owners, stay-at-home moms, pastors, sales professionals … (we represented the marketplace well) got new or deeper revelation about walking with God and abiding in His love throughout our normal daily life!

Just listening to some of the comments from those who signed up for a prayer watch (1 or 2 hour time slot) during the prayer weekend, it was clear their hearts were moved with desire to pray more during the week. Some of the people I specifically prayed with during my prayer shifts shared that the Lord opened up a whole new paradigm for them and now desire to ask the Lord to join them more often in their everyday activities in their marketplace.

(Hey, our heavenly Father is with us all the time. He just wants to be asked to come and join in with what we are doing more often along the way! J)

But here is the part I like:

Now, for several of these 35+ folks – they got a vision to bring the Kingdom into their workplace by just being strategic and more purposeful about praying during their normal day. In my view, you don’t have to set up some formalized ministry program in your business to start. Just be consistent about meeting with Jesus and asking for the Holy Spirit’s presence in your activities, and ministry will automatically happen.

Why?

Because when the Spirit is moving and the Kingdom is coming on earth like it is in heaven … Eternal Stuff Happens! (It’s called being a Christian!)

Oh, and by coming together in a more purposeful way before our heavenly Father in prayer, we are able to see and hear His heart more clearly. And once we know better what’s on God’s heart, we get the privilege of partnering with Him in even more prayer and to break in with power and move on our behalf.

Wow – what a way to spend an hour of your life!

God Bless You and Stand Steady on Your Marketplace Wall this week!

Talk later,

Chauncey
